Busy (but Great) Christmas Weekend
Later that day, we went to St. Albert for Church with G.G. and Poppop. We sat in the cry room (not because of Brooke, but because no other seats were available). It ended up working out well, because Brooke got a little louder than "church level" at times. After Church, we went to Grandma's and Grandpa's for some appetizers. Because of impending bad weather, Jeremy ended up leaving Christmas Eve night for work the next day. He arrived to work safely, only to wake up to a measely inch had accumulated during the night. Oh well...better safe than sorry!
On Christmas morning, Brooke woke up and we went over to Grandma's and Grandpa's house so she could open her presents there. Again, she had a great time opening all her gifts, and I have to say that Grandma hit the jackpot this year. Her favorite gift is a carrier of stuff for Baby Lexi. She plays with it nonstop. We ate breakfast over there and hung out for a bit, and then went home.
While Brooke napped, I got things ready to go to Aunt Sharon's for the Rembold Christmas party. We arrived there around 3:30 and stayed until 10:00. Brooke had a ball following her cousin, Jake around. She couldn't quite keep up, but she tried! It's nice to have another little one around the on Rembold side. Again, she made out like a bandit on Christmas presents. A ton of cute clothes and lots of good toys to play with. Her favorite from that day was probably the princess books that Aunt Sharon got her or the pull along dog that G.G. and Poppop got her.
On Sunday, we had the Eadens side of the family over to our house. We did a brunch (which is my favorite meal), and it seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves. We don't spend enough time with some members of the Eadens family, so it was nice to spend several hours together. She got a penguin pillow pet, a portable DVD player, a learning laptop and a princess palace little people set. The princess palace has been a lot of fun for her to play with!
After the Eadens family left on Sunday, I mandated family nap time. We all layed down on the floor in the den with pillows and blankets and watched Cinderella. It took Brooke all of 15 minutes to fall asleep.
We had a fantastic weekend spending time with family. Brooke is very lucky to be born into such a wonderful and loving family. We are truly blessed to have wonderful people in our lives. I thank God everyday for that.

Strep Throat yet again
So, please please please, pray that I am not a carrier (and that Brooke is not a carrier) and that I just have not gotten rid of my first round of strep. I am hoping that this strong antibiotic (shoot, brb, gotta take my meds...K, better now) will kill all of the bacteria and I will be strep free for quite some time.
On a better note...
Brooke has been the sweetest child for the last few days. I am not sure if it's a phase she is going through, but she is listening well, playing well, and so incredibly lovable. She has been just wanting to sit and read books, play quietly, no temper tantrums or anything right now. I love being her mommy all the time, but it's times like these that I thank my lucky stars for the child I received. Not sure how I got so lucky. As I was typing this last sentence, Brooke started to whimper and whine while sleeping. I walked upstairs to see if anything was wrong. She looks at me, smiles and says "Mommy?" in the sweetest little voice. Then she asks where Daddy is. Then I tell her to go back to sleep and that I love her, to which she returns with "I love you too, Mommy", and smiles and goes back to sleep. Ahhh, the joy!!

Funny things
- The other morning, I gave Brooke a granola bar and some fruit for breakfast. She got done eating, and she said "More mommy". I wasn't sure what she wanted more of, so I asked her. She had a very puzzled look on her face when I asked her. She thought for a moment about what she wanted, and said "Green Butt". Huh?? Green Butt? Then I thought about it...she forgot the word for granola bar. She came up with Green Butt. I laughed and asked her if she wanted a granola bar, and she said yes. I love that she is learning new words everyday, and that when she could not remember granola bar she made up her own words that were close to what she couldnt remember.
- The other night, Jeremy and I were upstairs brushing her teeth and we were lying on the floor together. She climbed on top of Jeremy and all of a sudden starting singing "Boom, Boom, Shake your Boom, Boom". Jeremy and I cracked up hysterically. I guess she learned that at school. She really didnt dance with it - but she sang it over and over and over again.
I love listening to her talk, watching her facial expressions as she talks, and learning new things everyday.
Edited to Add: We got some new hat and gloves for Brooke for the winter season. She calls her gloves "glubs". Basically, anything with a V sound, she makes a B sound instead. Its really sorta cute. But, everytime we go outside, whether she has her glubs on or not, she always says her hands are cold. She knows that glubs are supposed to keep her hands warm.

Grandpa's Birthday, Singing Songs, Potty Training, and Snow Day
Some of the fun songs we have been singing recently:
- Happy Birthday
- Jingle Bells
- Ruldolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
- BINGO
- Deck the Halls
- The Days of the week song
Speaking of the days of the week song....When I was telling Brooke that it was Grandpa's birthday, she was excited to hear about it. A few minutes later, she said that Grandpa's birthday was on Tuesday. Tuesday? My child knew what Tuesday was?? I had no clue that she knew the days of the week. I figured that she had to learn this at school, so I googled the days of the week songs. I clicked on the first one, and she listened, but didn't sing along...so I figured that wasn't it. I clicked on the second one, and she immediately started to sing along. It was so cute. I love that she is learning new things at school, and seems to really enjoy going there. She has also learned most of her letters as well. Out of the 26 letters, she knows about 20 of them. I am really impressed.
As far as potty training is concerned, she is really doing great. She only has about one accident a day. Unfortunately, two out of the last three days - it has been a poop accident. It's so much easier with a diaper!! On a better note, the last three days she has woken up completely dry. We are still putting a pull up on her at night (just in case). The first thing she does when she wakes up is go pee...and goes a lot! I am so proud of her! I never thought she would be doing this great this soon. I am hoping, however, I am not going to eat my words soon!!
When it snowed this past weekend, I thought it would be a great opportunity to get outside and play in it. Brooke was very excited about the thought of playing in it...and I was thrilled that she wanted to. Last year, she hated the snow. She had one bad experience (fell face first into the snow and couldn't move), and never wanted to get in the snow again. I bundled Brooke up in her snow bibs, heavy coat, two pairs of socks, hat, gloves, etc. She was ready to play! We got out in the snow, and she immediately took to it. She made snow balls, threw them at Carson, and rough housed with Carson in the snow. Both of them were having a blast. I was in the process of building a snow man when Brooke came over to me and showed me her glove. Somehow, it completely split open at the top and her poor, frozen little fingers were sticking out. At this point, she was only out in the snow for 10 minutes, so I know that she could not have had her fingers exposed for more than 3 minutes. She came over to me and then started crying. Her little fingers were soooo cold. We immediately came inside and I wrapped her fingers up in a blanket. In a few minutes, she was just fine asking for a snack. She was very traumatized that her gloves were broken and requested that we get new gloves - but this time, she wanted PINK ones. That child could have everything in pink. Cracks me up.
On another random note, we are going to Gatlinburg this weekend with Dana and Travis. I am looking forward to an adult weekend, but this will be the first time that Jeremy and I will be away (together) from Brooke for that long...and that far away. I know that we will have a blast, and Brooke will be in great hands, but I am sure going to miss her! I also worry that the impending snow storm may cancel our plans - or at the very least we would have to come home early. I don't want to drive home in hazardous conditions. I guess we will just have to keep a close eye on the weather to see what we will need to do.

O' Christmas Tree
I can't wait to see her face light up when Santa comes! We have been talking about it for a little while, but I don't think she really understands what Santa really means. While getting in the Christmas spirit, we have been singing some Christmas songs. She knows Jingle Bells and Ruldolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I love listening to that little girl sing!
Today, I bought the "Elf on a Shelf" for Brooke. If you are not familiar with this, it's an elf that you sit somewhere in the house and he goes back everynight and reports back to Santa Claus what you have done that day...whether you have been naughty or nice, essentially. I don't know that Brooke will fully understand, but it will be fun to see if she can find the Elf sitting in a new place every morning. I hope that she will eventually look forward to finding the elf in the morning. I also hope that she's not scared of the little guy either. He is sorta weird looking. I will let you know how it goes in another post!

Thanksgiving
First and foremost, I am thankful to have a wonderful husband and a nearly perfect child. I am thankful to have a roof over my head...a place that is not just a house, but a home to my wonderful family. I am thankful for my family...my parents, grandparents, brother, sister in law, sister, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and yes, even the in-laws (LOL!). I am fortunate to have such a wonderful, loving, and supportive family. A family where we talk...have actual conversations - not just calling to say hello. I am thankful, knowing that if I ever needed anything, all I would ever have to do is pick up the phone and ask...someone...anyone...and they would be there in an instant.
I am lucky to be able to afford to put the roof over my head and make my house a home. I am lucky that we don't have to go without. I am lucky to have a job, one that I actually kind of like ;). I am thankful to be able to make a career for myself, to continually grow and learn. I am thankful to have an employer who is flexible and understands that although I like to work, my family comes first.
I am lucky to have been born in the United States and have freedom in my life. I am thankful for all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to ensure my freedom.
I am lucky to have a husband who loves his job, and gives it his all. I am thankful to have a family who understands what he does, appreciates it, and helps me out when he is not here. I am thankful that he has found a career that he loves and that the career involves helping others in need. I am thankful that my husband loves me as much as he does. I am thankful that I love him too and want to share life's most important events with him. I am thankful that he is the father of our child.
I am thankful to have such wonderful friends in my life. People who are a phone call away, share their important news because they want to, and are excited to hear what I have to say as well. I am lucky to have a select few friends who have seen me at my worst, but still love me for my best. I am thankful that I can call these people friends, as they make my life richer just being in it.
I am thankful for the decisions I have made in my life to get me where I am today. Life has sure had it's ups and downs. But right now, right at this very moment, I am happy all of these decisions were made...it's because of those decisions that I sit here right now, and am thankful for everything that is in my life.
I am thankful for a lot. A WHOLE lot. After this post, I am going to go upstairs, just like I do everynight, and give my little girl a kiss goodnight...because most of all, I am thankful for her...the sweet little girl who is upstairs peacefully sleeping...waiting for whatever joys tomorrow may bring her.

Update
On Halloween, Brooke dressed up as a bumblebee. Trick or treating in our neighborhood lasted from 6-8 that evening. At 6:00 we had our first little trick or treaters. Brooke happened to be standing at our glass front door as the kids walked up the front stairs. She started crying hysterically. Imagine this....you are two years old, have no idea what halloween is all about, and three kids walk up to your front door. One is dressed as a princess, one is dressed as a toy story character, and the other as some scary goblin. Poor little Brooke had no idea what was going on. All she saw was that a scary goblin was coming to her front door. Once we went out trick or treating, she was a little better until she saw very scary costumes. She would ask, "What's that mommy". I would tell her that it was just a person dressed up in a costume. She was okay with that answer, but would not go up to the door by herself. I had to hold her the entire trick or treating adventure, but it was worth it. I think she enjoyed herself.
We have sort of been working on this whole potty training thing. I have not pushed it really hard, but we have been asking her every hour or so if she has to go potty. When she sits on the potty, she will go pee once out of every four times on the potty. She keeps her diapers dry for hours at a time, and then when I ask if she has to go potty, she will sit on the toilet and actually go. We have not gotten to the point yet where she will tell me that she has to go. I have to keep reminding her to sit on the potty. We try to make it a very big deal that she is going to the bathroom on the potty. At this point, I am just trying to figure out the best next steps to take. Do I go ahead and put her in big girl panties all day long? Do I just keep doing the pull ups and asking her when she has to go potty? Not really sure...but time will tell what works for us. I am hoping that she is going to be pretty easy to potty train. Afterall, she has been pretty easy to train on everything else. I couldn't ask for a better little girl.
We went up to Dover this past week to visit Chris, Jenn, Abby, and meet baby Lizzie for the first time. We had a great time. I loved watching Brooke and Abby play together. They are so close in age, and are into the same things, so it was fun watching them interact with each other. Lizzie was the sweetest. She hardly ever cried, and was content just being. I loved holding her, although Brooke did get a little jealous and kept telling me to put Lizzie back in her bouncy seat. Brooke wanted to help Lizzie whenever she didn't have her pacifier ("pass seat" as Brooke called it). She was trying so hard to help, but was very rough with Lizzie. I thought it was sweet that she was very concerned about Lizzie not having her pacifier, but she was a too rough for my liking...it made me very nervous! I sat Brooke down and told her that Lizzie was not a toy and that she had to be gentle.
Brooke did extremely well on the car ride up to Dover and on the way home. She played in the backseat by herself for a while, but when she got cranky we let her watch movies on the portable DVD player. It worked wonders! She loved watching movies in the car. I just hope that she doesn't expect to watch a movie everytime she is in the car now. Momma ain't playing that game ;).
I am enjoying my time off before I start back to work at Ernst and Young. I wish that I would have taken some more time off....two weeks is flying by! I am able to get things done around the house that I have wanted to do for a while now. I still have more things on my list, but have a few more days to complete them. That's all for now...time to do more stuff around the house!

The Last Few Weeks
Brooke's birthday party went off without a hitch. We were missing a few members of Jeremy's family, so we missed them, but were very that we had a great turnout. The cake was absolutely awesome. It looked just like I wanted it to, if not better, and it tasted great as well. Thanks to Aunt Paige for spending the day with me to help decorate the cake. It took about a total of three hours to ice the cake and cupcakes. My hands ended up being dyed purple from the black food coloring. I scrubbed with peroxide, bleach, and gasoline before it finally went away.
Brooke had a great time at her party. She loved seeing the family and being the center of attention. She especially loved that Lily was there. It's quite amazing how much Brooke looks up to Lily. I think it's so cute to watch them play together. They are just too sweet.
On Brooke's actual birthday, we spent the day as a family. Jeremy took the day off, and we went to my mom's work to visit. After that visit, we went to Huber's and ate lunch and picked pumpkins. We got a lot of great pictures. Check back soon for pictures of her birthday party and her actual birthday adventures. After Huber's, Brooke took a much needed nap. Later that evening, we went to GattiLand. We were torn between GattiLand and Chuck E Cheese. The final deciding factor came down to the pizza. Jeremy and I can not even tolerate the pizza at Chuck E Cheese. Not that the pizza is the best at GattiLand, but at least it's edible. Brooke had a great time at GattiLand. Between the pizza and the games, she was a tired little girl before it was all said and done. And to boot, she was a lucky little girl. The games we played at GattiLand were a little old for her, but were all about timing. We played games that when you press the button, it lands on a spot, and you get that amount of tickets. We played several different versions of that game, and she won more tickets then Jeremy and I did combined. It was hilarious.
Last week, Brooke and I went to the grocery together. She has always been really good about staying in the grocery cart until recently. I decided, after multiple arugments, to go ahead and give in to her, and let her get out of the cart. I had about two more aisles to go when I let her out. She got out of the cart, started walking backwards and waved her hands saying, "Follow Me, Mommy. Follow me". It melted my heart. Whenever Brooke says new things like this, I realize how much she is growing up and how much she is more like a little girl, rather than a baby.
Today, I was taking a bath before the UofL game, and Brooke was in the bathroom with me. She realized that I had a hair rubber band on my wrist, and looked at me and said "No, no, Mommy. No bracelets in the bath tub. No, no, no". Jeremy and I tell her that she is not allowed to bring bracelets in the bath tub. So, she was scolding me for taking a bracelet into the bath tub. Again, I thought this was adorable.
I have been teaching Brooke her last name and address this past week. Since she is old enough to remember things, I thought this would be a good time. I worry about her getting lost, or wandering off, so I wanted to make sure that she was able to tell someone where she lived and what her name was. So, when you ask her what her name is, she will say Brooke. Last name? (she tells me what her last name is, but for privacy purposes, I don't want to put it on here). Where she lives? (She tells me the name of the street she lives on, but not the house number, and again, for privacy purposes, I don't want to write it here). The way she says all of these things are just adorable. I am still working with her, and want her to know the house number and either Mommy or Daddy's cell phone number.
I also wanted to tell everyone thank you again. Thank you for everything you do. Thanks for just reading this blog and caring enough to want to know what's going on in our lives. Thanks for being a part of that. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. Love you all!!

Shopping Adventure and Muffins Please
We hit a couple more stores before our shopping adventure was over. At baby Gap, she wanted to try on shoes. So, we took her shoes and socks off, and she put on a pair of flats. She walked around the store in amazement. This little girl has a shoe fetish already. Boy, Jeremy and I are sure in trouble!
We had a ton of fun shopping. I got a few things for her to wear on her birthday party day, but you will just have to wait to see them!
On another note, my child is not only obsessed with shoes, but also muffins. For whatever reason, Brooke becomes obsessed with a certain item of food for weeks at a time. The first food obsession was yogurt covered pretzels. I finall had to put her through a yogurt covered pretzel detox, to which she came out successful. The next obsession was bananas. Now, the obsession is muffins. She loves the blueberry mini muffins. She wakes up - wants muffins. She eats a little lunch, tells me all done, and then will look up at me with her big blue eyes, and ask in the sweetest little voice with a sweet little smile, "Muffins?". The other night we had pizza for dinner. She ate about half a slice and then asked for muffins. That's all she wants to eat right now. I am thinking about buying stock in the muffin company. Oh, and she also loves the song "Do you know the Muffin Man". LOL - she might just turn into a muffin!! I have called her muffin from the first few weeks she was born. I guess she just may live up to that name!!

Busy Month of October!!
I want Brooke's birthday party to be perfect, so I keep planning, and keep planning, and then plan some more. The trial run of her bumblebee cake turned out really great, so I am thankful for that. I can't wait to do the actual birthday cake with the icing. I will post more about the cake once it's actually done. I will take plenty of pictures, I promise! This is a task I have never taken on before, and am sort of looking forward to it - but, I just want it to BEEE perfect.
I keep thinking of more and more things I need to do before the party. Buy this, buy that, don't forget about this, clean the house, finish buying birthday presents, clean the house again, wrap the presents, make the food. And the list goes on and on and on.
I love Louisville football, but am wishing that they didn't have quite so many October games ;). There are two coming up...one this weekend, and one next weekend (the night before the birthday party).
At this point, I am just trying to keep my head above water. Between the party, work, house stuff, and Louisville football, I am sinking quickly. I always do this though - stress out, and then look back when it's all done and wonder why I stressed out about it. Hopefully I will do that again this year. I keep telling myself to take one step at a time and things will be fine. So, here's to another step!!

Talking and Trial Run on Bday Cake
- Come on Mommy, let's go
- I throw the ball
- I pet the doggie
- Carson go outside
- We go this way
- I take a diaper off
- Tickle me Mommy
- Swing on this swing, over here
- There's Mommy's Car
- My pink princess cup with water
And those are just the ones I can think of briefly on the top of my head. Each day, a new sentence comes out of her mouth and is longer than anything she has said before. It's so cute to listen to her sweet voice talking in long sentences. She continues to amaze me everyday.
I did a trial run of Brooke's birthday cake today. I am planning on making a bumblebee cake and bumblebee cupcakes. For the longest time, I could not figure out how to shape the body correctly. I knew that I wanted to use a pyrex mixing bowl for the head, but the body was the hard part. I want the bee to look 3D, so the shape is rather important. Jeremy and I went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond last night and he came up with the idea of using a Wok.
So, today, I bought three boxes of cake mix. Baked one box in the mixing bowl for about an hour, and the shape came out great. Slid right out of the bowl too (and it should have for the amount of non-stick spray I put on the bowl). Baked two boxes of mix in the Wok for about an hour and twenty minutes. The shape came out great as well. I am worried, however, about the taste of the cake. Because I had to bake it so long to get the center cooked, I am afraid the outer edges are a little too well done. I hope the rest of the cake is not too dry. I iced the cake with plain white icing tonight, and am taking it to work tomorrow. My co-workers will either love me or hate me tomorrow. Hopefully they will love me!!

A case of strep, and lowered on the family totem pole
I gave Brooke a bath tonight. She has these stacking cups that she plays with in the tub. They are yellow (smallest), white (medium), and blue (large). When Brooke plays with these, she gives Daddy the blue one, Mommy the white one, and she plays with the yellow one herself. It's funny because Jeremy is the biggest (blue), I am in the middle (white), and Brooke is the smallest (yellow). I don't know if it was just plain coincidence that she always hands them out this way, or if she actually correlates the size of the cups to the size of the person. Maybe it's an ordering rule in the house - Daddy is in charge - so he gets the biggest. Mommy is next in charge, so she gets the white cup, and Brooke is not in charge, so she gets the smallest yellow cup. Well, I think Brooke is trying to take my position on our family totem pole. Today, she handed me the yellow cup to play with while she played with the white one. The blue one sat with no one playing with it since Daddy is at work. Not sure how I really feel about it - is she really trying to take charge by giving me the yellow cup? Or does she think she's bigger than me? Time will tell.

Locked out, hit the ball, methodical playing, and not on my belly!
LOCKED OUT
I do corporate tax for a living - meaning that the tax deadline is September 15th, and I hardly ever get Labor Day off. This year was no exception. I went into work on Monday, even though I was not feeling great. This was the first onset of my strep throat symptoms, but since we were so far behind, I needed to go in and get some returns prepared. Jeremy stayed at home with Brooke while I was working. I get a phone call around noon from him. He was panicked. He asked me where my parents were, I told him that I did not know. He told me that he went outside to get something and heard the door slam. Apparently, Brooke had slammed the door, and then locked it. He had no way to get in because all other doors and windows stay locked at all times. I asked him if he wanted me to run home from work and open the door. He told me that he didn't want to wait 20 minutes for me to get home. During this conversation, I could hear Brooke screaming and crying through the door and over the phone. She was obviously traumatized, but a crying baby means a breathing baby, and the sound of her crying was actually a relief. So, Jeremy's way of opening the door: going through the drywall. He went through the drywall in the garage and into the laundry room, and reached his hand around to unlock the door. Took a total of about 5 minutes. Here is a lovely picture of the handy drywall patch work:

Now, Brooke looks at the door and says "Daddy fixed it".
HIT THE BALL
Grandma and Grandpa (my Mom and Dad)took Brooke to go see Aunt Paige play volleyball on Wednesday night. They taught her to say "Hit the ball, Paige". So I keep asking her "What do we say to Paige when she is playing volleyball?". She will turn around and say "Hit the ball, Paige". She gets so excited to say it too! Apparently, she likes to watch Paige play for a little while, but since her attention span isn't that long, she won't sit through 5 games. Either way, it's fun for her to watch her Aunt Paige play college volleyball, and Aunt Paige loves having a little cheerleader come along!
METHODICAL PLAYING
Aunt Mimi dropped Cecily off for a little while this evening so she and Ava could check out a few houses. I was so glad to be able to watch Cecily so that the two little ones could have some one on one time together. They both played really well together and had tons of fun. However, I noticed a difference in personalities while watching them play. Cecily has a huge imagination! She will take a toy and use it in a way that it was not intended. She would take a dog and put it in a basket and say that she was going on a trip. Brooke on the other hand, will only play with toys the way they were made to play with. For example - she won't take a farmer and have him play in the house. She knows that the farmer only plays on the farm - and the farmer stays there. Her imagination has not blossomed yet - but watching her play with toys and the way she plays with them, makes me realize that she likes things a certain way. All of the pieces and parts to one toy don't necessarily have to be all in one place, but she won't play with a piece that doesn't belong with that toy. It cracks me up - mainly because it's so much like me. I only see things the way they were intended to be used. Jeremy can take a broom and make anything out of it and play with it for hours. Me, a broom is for sweeping....and that's it. Makes me wonder if this child will have any creativity like her father....or will be more methodical like her mother. Hard to tell for sure, but at this time, I am betting on more like her mother.
NOT ON MY BELLY
About two weeks ago, I was washing Brooke's hair, got it all nice and sudsy, and had tons of leftover suds on my hands. I took it, showed it to Brooke (to which she said "A Mess"), and then wiped it onto her belly. She really didn't do much, other than wipe it off. The next bath night, I did the same thing, then the next, then the next. Well, tonight, I put shampoo in her hair and was working up a nice lather. She told me "Not on my belly". I started to laugh. So after my hands were all nice and sudsy, I acted like I was going to put it on her belly. She told me, "No Mommy, not on my belly" and then tried to move away. I again moved towards her. She said "No Mommy, wash it off". This child really does not like a mess anywhere. Can we say OCD??? :)

Drawing in circles
This may sound really stupid, but I was so excited when this happened. Earlier this evening, Brooke and I were playing in the playroom. She has an eisel up there that she draws on with chalk. At this age, its really common to draw in straight lines. Today however, circles were drawn! I was so excited!! These were not perfect circles by any means, but they were the prettiest circles I have ever seen. Two years ago I would have never guessed that I would be so darn excited about circles. I love watching Brooke learn and grow, and can't wait to see what she does tomorrow. Life is great!!

Jeremy's Trip to Dover and more
I also appreciate everyone who has helped me over the last week. Thanks to Aunt Patti for coming over and keeping me company for a bit on Tuesday, thanks to my Mom and Dad for dinner for last Sunday and Wednesday and for watching Brooke while I played volleyball tonight, and thanks to Nanny for dinner on Thursday. Thanks to Dana for coming over on Friday night and having a little girl time. I really enjoyed our talk! Thanks to everyone else who offered to help out, but I never took them up on it! Just knowing that you guys would be there if I did need anything meant a lot. I am very lucky to have a great family and close friends. It's in times like these I know who really cares.
On a side note, Brooke has been talking up a storm this week. For whatever reason, her vocabulary has expanded bigtime. She is now talking more clearly (Daddy instead of Da-E and Michelle instead of Shelf). She is also singing along to more songs and forming more sentences.
We were watching Snow White earlier this evening. During the part where Snow White is about to get killed by the Queen's helper, Brooke kept saying "Princess? Princess? Princess?". I couldn't figure out why she was asking about the princess until I realized that she was worried about the Princess. She could tell that Snow White was in trouble, and Brooke wanted to be reassured that the Princess would be okay. It was really cute to see that she truly cared about Snow White's well being.
Also during this week, I went to a neighbor's surprise birthday party. I grabbed one beer to take over there with me, and put it in a koozie. When I got the koozie out, Brooke looked at it and said "Poppops". She has not seen Poppop since the end of May, and she hasn't seen the koozie since then either. It absolutely amazed me that she remembered (from three months ago) that the koozie belongs to Poppop since he always uses them. What a memory!!
Today, we had a very busy day. We started off with Church in the morning, a birthday party for Lily this afternoon, and volleyball this evening. I will post more this week - including pictures - of Brooke's fun time at Lily's birthday party.
All in all - we survived this week. The house is still standing, Carson is still here, and nothing broke. Right now, I am anticipating the arrival of my husband from his one week adventure in kitchenland. We are all so happy he's coming home!!

Kentucky State Fair
After eating dinner, we went to see the animals. Brooke loved looking at the cows, and was "mooing" throughout the cow venue. We saw the goats next, and Brooke kept calling them puppies. I guess some of the tan colored ones did look like Carson. She loved running up to each goat and giving him a nice pat on the head.

We walked over to the rest of the animals and saw the birds and bunnies. On the far end of the wall, there were several geese along the back wall. My favorite part of going to the fair is trying to pet all the animals that really don't want to be touched. I am sure I am traumatizing these poor animals, but I find it really amusing. Unfortunately, I was unable to pet any geese this year, but was able to pet several of the bunnies.
After venturing through all of the animals, we decided to go to the midway and see if Brooke could ride any rides and play a few games. We knew she could ride the carousel, but wondered if she would like to be more adventurous and ride something else. As we were walking through the midway, Jeremy decided to play a game. It was the one that you take a huge mallet and hit the thingy to see how far you can make it to the top. Jeremy thought he would have no problem with this. Well, apparently the fire he had the day before wore his arms out. He made it go about 3/4 of the way up. Not wanting to lose, Jeremy handed the woman another $5 and went at it again. No winner. At this point, his pride was getting in the way, and wanted to win his little girl a big soft puppy she was eyeing. He handed another $5 over...still, no winner. He walked away with his tail tucked between his legs. We went onto another game where you throw the darts at the balloons and try to pop them. For $5 you have to pop 6 balloons out of 7 dart throws. Jeremy succeeded!! We asked Brooke what prize she wanted...and guess which one? A pink puppy!! That child loves pink. Pink anything. Pink, pink, pink!
After winning her puppy, we went on to ride rides. We put her on the carousel with her Daddy and everytime they came around the corner Jeremy would try to get Brooke to look over at me and point me out in the crowd.

There was another little car ride that I thought she could ride, but I was worried that she would jump off when the ride started saying "All done Mommy". But, we gave it a shot, and I stood inside the ride so that I could quickly get my hands on her if need be. She sat in the corvette, and was pretending she was driving. It was really cute to watch my little girl go on her first ride all by herself!!

After this ride, we packed up and went home. The little girl was tired, and so was Mommy and Daddy.
On Sunday, Grandma, Aunt Paige, and John wanted to go to the fair with Ms. Brooke. We left around 10:30 Sunday morning and thought it wouldn't be too crowded at that time. Boy were we wrong! It was packed. Again, we ate first and we finished it off with an ice cream for Brooke. She loves her "ice seem".
We saw the animals again, and she loved them again. I think this child could be a vet when she grows up. She loves her animals! They had several bunnies out for petting, and Brooke wanted to get her hands on the bunny - but as soon as she did, she would pull away. I think she was a little scared by them, but I think the bunny was still more scared!

We then decided to ride some more rides. I figured we would do the carousel again, but I also wanted her to do the kiddie bumper boats she was eyeing the previous fair trip. I was afraid that she would find more interest in the "simming pool" rather than the boat ride, but we gave it a shot anyway. Here's a pic of her riding the kiddie bumper boats.

It was a hot day, and we were all getting tired. We rode one more ride (the cars again), and we left. On our way out, Brooke started to fall asleep, and actually did so on the way home. She took a nice long nap on Sunday afternoon, and since Mommy was whooped as well I laid down too.
Two fantastic days at the fair.

Grandma Broke it
Brooke has a Little People Farm book that you can lift the flaps and see different animals, shapes, colors, and opposites. She reads this book a lot during our car rides. There was one specific evening when Grandma was sitting in the back seat reading the farm book with Brooke. Brooke peeled off one of the flaps and broke it off completely. She said "I broke it"...and that was the end of that.
A few weeks after Brooke pulled off the flap, she was reading the book again, and came across the broken flap. She looks at it, and says "Grandma broke it". I started to laugh and told her that Grandma didn't break it - that Brooke broke it. She returned, laughingly saying that no, Grandma broke it.
So we were in the car this evening, and Brooke was again reading her farm book. She got to the page with the broken flap, and said again "Grandma broke it". I think it's really funny that she remembers that Grandma was sitting in the back seat with her when she broke the flap, and that she blames it on Grandma. I am not sure if she really thinks that Grandma broke it, or if she is just trying to be funny. Either way, I think it's adorable.

A Day at the Park
I thought it was especially cute that Brooke wanted her Aunt Mimi to help her with everything. When her flip flop fell off, Brooke wanted Aunt Mimi to come and help her fix it. When Brooke wanted to go down the big slide, she wanted Aunt Mimi to go down with her. When Brooke was playing with the purple ball, she wanted to always throw it to her Aunt Mimi! Aunt Mimi sure is wonderful!!
Here are a few pictures from today's adventure at the park. Three beautiful blonde haired blued eyed little girls!

Mommy is A Mess
On one hand, I was happy that my little girl would not let me go out into public with a booger on my face. But, on the other hand, I was embarrassed that I had a booger on the side of my cheek! I was trying to figure out how in the world it got all the way over there!!
I finished strapping her in, and quickly ran into the drivers seat so I could inspect this so called "booger" through the rear view mirror. I looked, only to find an itsy bitsy teenie weenie little zit on the side of my face! Whew! What a relief.

Bath by Flashlight
Shortly after we left, the power went out due to a storm. Paige, John, and Brooke played outside after the rain came through. They were hoping that the power would return shortly. Since it did not, Paige sent me a text asking if she should still give Brooke a bath even though the power was out, and since my phone was on silent and in my purse on the floor, I did not respond.
I came home for the evening to find that the power was still out. I asked Paige if she was able to give Brooke a bath before the power went out. She said no, but she said that she set up a flashlight and gave Brooke a bath by flashlight. I was cracking up. Apparently, when I give a Dellis instructions, they are followed! Thanks to Aunt Paige and John for giving little Brooke a bath by flashlight and enduring the boringness that follows after a power outage.

Sooo Big!! Nope.
On every page of the book (except for the last one), I will ask how Big is XXanimal, and Brooke will say (in the cutest voice ever to be heard) "Sooo Big". Then we lift the flap, where it shows a picture of a baby, and ask Brooke "How big is baby?" She will again respond with "Sooo Big".
When we get to the last page (where it says "How big is my love for you"), Brooke lifts the flap and says "Nope". She doesn't say no, or uh uh, she says nope. She is looking for the baby to be "Sooo Big", and since there is not a baby there, she doesn't say Sooo Big.
I love that she says Nope instead of no or uh uh. She just says it so matter of factly, closes the book, and moves on to the next thing she wants to play with.

Stop It, Dano
So, in order to get back at me, Jeremy thought it would be a good idea to teach Brooke to say "Stop it, Danielle". Now, whenever I tickle Brooke, she says "Stop it, Dano". She can't quite say Danielle, it sounds more like Dano, which is funny, since that's what my family called me when I was little.
The other day, Jake, Michelle, and Lily were over the house, and Brooke was standing atop her playset. She looks at me and says "Dano". She says it over and over again. She just thinks she's soooo cute ;). And quite frankly, she is.

A Mess
I gave her the first bath since the painting of the toenails this evening. I washed her hair, washed her arms, her belly, and then her legs. When I got to her toes, she looks at me and says "Mommy, all gone". She repeated herself several times while pointing at her toes. I finally realized that she wanted "the mess" on her toes all gone. I again told her that her toes were pretty, and that it doesn't go away.
Whenever anything is dirty or out of order, she looks at it and says that it's "A Mess". It was really cute for a while, but now it's becoming a nuisance. We were playing with water balloons earlier this evening and when one busted on the concrete, she was mad because it was a mess. I sure hope I am not creating a child who is obsessed with cleanliness. Although, maybe I can teach her to clean the house. Hmmm.....
Background Information
Jeremy and I (Danielle) met in July of 1997. He was going to be a senior in high school, and I was going to be a sophomore. We got married on August 14, 2004. We bought our first house on Oakbrook Drive in July 2004. Carson, our four legged son, came into our life October 2004. After a few years of it just being us, we decided to start a family of our own. We found out we were expecting on March 12, 2008. Brooke Gabrielle Eadens was born by C-Section on October 20, 2008.
As of this date, Brooke is now 21 months old, and makes me laugh every single day. There is not a day that goes by that she doesn't say something or do something that makes me laugh. This blog is intended to document all of these funny things along the way of her growing up. It's probably also going to be much more than that...but as of right now, that's my goal.
